Located on Cape Cod, Latham Centers is a leader in special education and therapeutic services for children and adults with disabilities. Our residential therapeutic school serves Massachusetts, New York, and beyond.

Children's Residential Program Admissions

Latham Centers treats boys and girls, ages 8–22, with developmental delays, emotional and behavioral challenges, Prader-Willi Syndrome, and trauma or attachment issues. We focus on highly individualized treatment that supports both the student and the family.

Latham School is located at 1646 Main St. (Route 6A) in Cape Cod's "Sea Captain's Town" of Brewster, Massachusetts.

Latham Centers' Children's Program offers educational, vocational, residential, social, clinical and therapeutic resources which include:

  • Separate academic and residential faculty;
  • Licensed teachers and speech, physical and occupational therapists;
  • Master's level clinicians serve as liaisons from home to school to residences;
  • Low student-to-staff ratio;
  • Multi-sensory learning environment with current technology utilized throughout the school and residential programs;
  • Researched and validated instructional methods and therapeutic approaches;
  • Real-life opportunities for generalization of skills both on and off campus;
  • Social skills and pragmatics integrated within all aspects of the programs;
  • Comprehensive health care services;
  • Wide range of after-school and weekend activities;
  • Sports and vocational opportunities;
  • Safe, supportive, structured environment in which to learn and grow.

Licensed and Approved Programs

Latham Centers is approved by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and is licensed by the Department of Early Education and Care (DEEC). Our residential therapeutic school provides treatment services to approximately 45 students, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. We are also nationally accredited by the Council on Accreditation.

When in-state options are not available, Latham Centers has been approved to admit students from:

  • California
  • Illinois
  • Maryland
  • Massachusetts
  • New Jersey
  • New York, and
  • Washington, D.C.

We continue to accept students from state that do not have a formal approval process. Recent students have hailed from Alaska, Ohio, and Virginia.

Adult Residential and Shared Living
Program Admissions

Located in Southeastern Massachusetts and Cape Cod, Latham provides community living opportunities for adults with disabilities including Prader-Willi Syndrome. Latham Centers is licensed by the Department of Developmental Services (DDS), and our Adult Programs offer vocational, residential, social and clinical resources which include:

  • Group home community residences serving 4-5 adults;
  • Shared Living community residences each serving 1 adult;
  • Independent Living serving adults living in community apartments and condominiums;
  • Individualized services to meet each individual’s unique needs. Support ranges from intensive 24-hour supervision to drop-in case management;
  • Community based health providers;
  • Access to community based day programming.
  • Support from our caring and highly trained staff;
  • Assistance with daily routines, community integration, and behavioral therapies.
